Frequently Asked Questions

USOSM and our Partner Practices follow the CDC Guidelines related to the COVID-19 Virus and are committed to providing you with the appropriate PPE (personal protective equipment) and necessary safeguarding during your workday. We will make every effort to keep you informed as additional information becomes available.

We strongly encourage and recommend you seek medical attention from your PCP (primary care physician) should you experience symptoms associated with the COVID-19 Virus.

The following information outlines varying scenarios you may experience during the COVID-19 Pandemic.

  1. I was with my friend this weekend, and she just found out she has been exposed to a positive person. What do I do? You are expected to report to work. Please refer to section 4.1 in the SOP – “Staff member has come in contact with an individual who tested positive.”
  2. My family member has been exposed to a positive person. What do I do? You are expected to report to work. Please refer to section 4.1 in the SOP – “Staff member has come in contact with an individual who tested positive.”
  3. My family member has tested positive. What do I do?  You are expected to report to work. Please refer to section 4.1 in the SOP – “Staff member has come in contact with an individual who tested positive.”
  4. My co-worker has tested positive. Will I be notified?  You are expected to report to work. Due to HIPAA regulations, your leader will notify you only if you had potential exposure. Please refer to section 4.2 in the SOP – “Staff member tests positive.”
  5. If a staff member tests positive, do we notify patients? Due to working in a healthcare setting, appropriate PPE is utilized per CDC guidelines; therefore, patient notification is not required.
  6. Do I get paid time off to get a COVID-19 test?  If you are symptomatic, please speak with your primary care physician and your leader regarding an ideal time to get tested. PTO/sick time can be used and must be approved by your leader.
  7. I feel uncomfortable coming to work. I do not want to report to the office.  You are expected to return to work. Please refer to section 5.1 in the SOP – “Absenteeism.”
  8. How will I be paid if I am off work because I tested positive? You can use your sick time and/or vacation time. Please refer to section 5.1 in the SOP – “Absenteeism.”
  9. How will I be paid if I am self-quarantining, because I was exposed to someone who tested positive? You are expected to return to work. Please refer to section 5.1 in the SOP – “Absenteeism.”
  10. My daycare has received a positive test. I do not have alternate childcare for my children and must stay home and take care of them. You are responsible for finding childcare and returning to work. If you are unable to return, and we are unable to provide you time off, you will be voluntary separated from the company. Please refer to section 5.1 in the SOP – “Absenteeism.”
  11. I think someone at work has COVID-19. What do I do or say? Please discuss your assumptions with your leader. He/she will work with HR as needed and/or on a case-by-case basis. Please do not share your assumptions with anyone other than your leader.
  12. Someone at my other job has tested positive. What do I do for USOSM? You are expected to report to work. Please refer to section 4.1 in the SOP – “Staff member has come in contact with an individual who tested positive.”
