Lisa N. Tran, DDS, MD, FACS

Dr. Tran earned her Bachelors of Science in Chemistry at Caltech in Pasadena where she was captain of the women’s basketball team and actively participated in research at the City of Hope and with Nobel laureate, David Baltimore. At UCLA School of Dentistry, Dr. Tran discovered her passion for Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. After obtaining a Doctorate in Dental Surgery, she moved to Atlanta, Georgia for medical school and oral and maxillofacial surgery residency at Emory University School of Medicine. After receiving her Medical Degree, Dr. Tran completed a General Surgery Internship and trained in different specialties including anesthesia, surgical critical care, trauma, head and neck surgery, plastic surgery, and pediatric surgery.

At Emory, Dr. Tran had extensive and advanced training in all aspects of Oral and Maxillofacial surgery including dentoalveolar surgery, implant surgery, bone grafting, trauma, reconstructive surgery, oral pathology, TMJ surgery and orthognathic surgery. While in residency, she pursued bone generation research at Georgia Tech to improve patient care and advance the specialty. Her bone regeneration research led to prestigious grants, several publications, and numerous awards.

Dr. Tran enjoys teaching Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at her alma mater, UCLA School of Dentistry. She is certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, a member of the American Dental Association (ADA), California Dental Association (CDA), American College of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (ACOMS), American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (AAOMS), and Orange County Dental Society (OCDS). She is active in her affiliated hospitals, St. Joseph, Children’s Hospital of Orange (CHOC), and La Veta Surgical Center. Dr. Tran is the Section Chair of Oral Surgery at CHOC.

Dr. Tran is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (ACS).
