Q:  Can I work during my furlough?

A:  You can work while on furlough at another position. However, keep in mind that you will need to report those earnings on your weekly unemployment questionnaire. The earnings will be used in the calculation of how much you would be eligible for in unemployment compensation.

If you accept permanent placement at another job, please let your leader know as we will need to review separation with USOSM/Practice.

Q:  April 3rd is the next payroll, will I receive a check?

A:  April 3rd is the next USOSM pay date. You will receive a partial check for any hours you worked the week of March 16th-20th.

Q:  How will my employee portion premiums be handled if I am not receiving a check?

A:  This is a 2 part answer: 1) Medical/Dental/Vision – USOSM will pay for and cover your premiums for any paychecks that you miss. You will not have to repay these. 2) All other supplemental premiums (dependent Life, AFLAC, FSA, etc.), USOSM will collect missed premiums/deductions from your future checks.

Q:  Will I still get my sick hours for April?

A:  Yes, eligible employees will receive their sick hours for April.

Q:  What if I do not want to return to work when I am recalled?

A:  If you are not willing or able to be recalled, we will deem this a voluntary separation of employment.

Q:  I have been unable to get on the unemployment website – what do I do?

A:  Unfortunately there is a very high demand for registering for unemployment. Please be patient and continue trying to log in. The states are aware of this and will honor your claim if you are not able to register on your first day of your furlough.
