Surgeon Spotlight – John D. Salek-Raham, DDS, MD

John D. Salek-Raham, DDS, MD, is a board certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon with Momenta Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, a USOSM partner practice with locations in North Oaks and Roseville, Minnesota. Dr. Salek-Raham’s chief clinical interests include delivery of safe and effective outpatient anesthesia, medical management of patients, benign pathology, orthognathic surgery and immediate implants. He is trained in a full-scope of OMS procedures and enjoys selecting treatments that will best meet each individual patient’s needs.

“One of the things I like best about this specialty is the autonomy that I have. I can practice the way I want and focus on treating patients,” notes Dr. Salek-Raham. “I like the scope of work that’s available to me. I enjoy being able to help my patients and meeting the challenges of our profession on my own terms.”

Having complete clinical autonomy is very important to Dr. Salek-Raham, and he says it was the driving-factor behind his decision to join USOSM.

“When we decided to partner with USOSM, I was still an associate, which gives me a somewhat unique perspective on the process,” explains Dr. Salek-Raham. “I wasn’t interested in a partnership unless I could keep 100% clinical autonomy, and USOSM fully respects that. I get all the benefits of a partnership – like financial support and business management — and I maintain complete autonomy over my schedule and patient care.”

Dr. Salek-Raham earned his DDS from the University at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine and his MD from Wayne State University School of Medicine. In addition, he is a graduate of the Ascension Macomb-Oakland Hospital Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Residency Program in Detroit, MI, where he served as full-time faculty, overseeing the education and clinical training of residents.
