IRVING, TEXAS (FEBRUARY 27, 2019)… U.S. Oral Surgery Management (USOSM), a specialty management services company serving premier oral and maxillofacial surgeons, has created the USOSM Clinical Governance Board to advise USOSM and its partner practices on important clinical issues oral and maxillofacial surgeons encounter. Seven leading oral/maxillofacial surgeons have been named to serve during the board’s first term, effective immediately. Each board member will serve a two-year term. Our whole partner model rests on being surgeon centric.We felt it was important to create a formal board of surgeon leaders as an integral part of our company governance.

“The surgeons selected have impeccable ethical standards and the experience and education necessary to provide valuable insight on quality patient care, federal regulation updates and other clinical considerations. Our individual surgeon partners will always make their own clinical decisions, but they will receive the benefit of expert advice, support and advocacy from the USOSM Clinical Governance Board,” says Richard Hall, USOSM president and CEO.

Dr. Thomas S. Weil of Austin Oral Surgery will chair the USOSM Clinical Governance Board and Dr. Wendell A. “Wedge” Edgin of Alamo Maxillofacial Surgical Associates will serve as secretary. Other new board members include: Dr. Colin S. Bell of Oral Surgery Associates of North Texas, Dr. Michael P. Ding of Austin Oral Surgery, Dr. Douglas J. Dingwerth of Oral Surgery Associates of North Texas, Dr. David K. Hunter of Northern Texas Facial & Oral Surgery and Dr. Gregg L. Lurcott of Colorado Oral Surgery.

Thomas S. Weil, DDS, MD
Managing partner and surgeon of Austin Oral Surgery, Dr. Weil also is a diplomate of and served as a board examiner for the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He is a fellow of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (AAOMS) and a member of Southwest Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, Texas Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, American Medical Association, and theAmerican Dental Association. He has been practicing for over twenty-five years and is a Texas Monthly Hall of Fame Super Doctor.

Wendell A. “Wedge” Edgin, DDS
Dr. Edgin is an oral and maxillofacial surgeon with Alamo Maxillofacial Surgical Associates and a diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Dr. Edgin has written and lectured extensively on a wide variety of oral and maxillofacial surgery topics and is a fellow of AAOMS, American College of Dentists and the International College of Dentists. He has served in leadership positions for a number of professional organizations, was an associate professor at UT Health San Antonio School of Dentistry, and is a retired U.S. Air Force colonel. At the culmination of his military career, Dr. Edgin served as the department chair and director of the graduate oral and maxillofacial surgery program at Wilford Hall U.S. Air Force Medical Center. In addition, he was the oral and maxillofacial surgery consultant to the Surgeon General.

Colin S. Bell, DDS, MSD
A surgeon with Oral Surgery Associates of North Texas and the chief clinical officer of U.S. Oral Surgery Management, Dr. Bell is a fellow of both the American and the International College of Dentists. He has held leadership positions for a number of professional organizations and is an active member of the American Dental Association and AAOMS. Dr. Bell has served as the past president of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and currently serves as a member of the board of directors of OMS National Insurance Company.
He currently serves in the AAOMS House of Delegates and is a clinical professor of oral and maxillofacial surgery at Texas A&M College of Dentistry. In addition, Dr. Bell was the 2013 recipient of the prestigious AAOMS Presidential Achievement award and has been voted among the industry’s Best in Dallas by D Magazine.

Michael P. Ding, DDS, MD
Dr. Ding is a surgeon with Austin Oral Surgery. He serves as a diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, and is an active member of AAOMS, the Southwest Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, and the Texas Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.  In addition, he is a member of the American Dental Association, Texas Dental Association, Capital Area Dental Society, and the Texas Medical Association. Dr. Ding pracitces a full scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery, with particular interest in orthognathic surgery, head and neck pathology and dental implant rehabilitation. He has lectured nationally on these topics and has served on medical and dental mission trips, focusing on facial trauma and cleft lip and palate repair.

Douglas J. Dingwerth, DMD, MD
A surgeon with Oral Surgery Associates of North Texas, Dr. Dingwerth also is an adjunct assistant professor at Texas A&M College of Dentistry and a staff physician at Baylor University Medical Center. He is an active member of AAOMS, Southwest Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, Texas Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and North Texas Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. In addition, he is a member of the American Dental Association, Texas Dental Association, Dallas County Dental Society, Texas Medical Association and the Dallas County Medical Society. He has also served as president of the North Texas Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. Voted among the Best in Dallas by D Magazine readers, Dr. Dingwerth’s surgical interests include dental implants, corrective jaw surgery, wisdom teeth, dental extractions, facial trauma and oral pathology.

David K. Hunter, DDS
At Northern Texas Facial & Oral Surgery, Dr. Hunter focuses on pediatric surgery and dental implant reconstruction. He is a fellow of both AAOMS and the American College of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, and he serves as an examiner for the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Dr. Hunter has been recognized by his peers as a premier surgeon in his field and he has been featured as such in Texas Monthly, Fort Worth Magazine and D Magazine. In addition, he previously has served as president of the North Texas Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and as an instructor for advanced cardiovascular and pediatric life support.

Gregg L. Lurcott, DDS
Dr. Lurcott is a surgeon with Colorado Oral Surgery and a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Dr. Lurcott maintains Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications.  Dr. Lurcott is a member of the facial trauma team at Swedish Medical Center, the Medical Center of Aurora and Sky Ridge Medical Center where he specializes in treating patients with congenital and traumatic craniofacial deformities. Previously, Dr. Lurcott had a private practice in the Detroit area where he was a member of several professional boards, treated children through two cleft lip and palate clinics, and lectured regularly on dental implants. He also acted as an attending instructor through the St. John residency program, teaching the principles and art of oral and maxillofacial surgery to residents-in-training.  Dr. Lurcott has been consistently voted as one of the top oral and maxillofacial surgeons in Denver’s 5280 magazine.
